Nigeria and its neighbourhood can indeed be called cotton country. Blessed with just the right soil, climate, and natural abundance of other necessities for the growing of the crop, and since the turn of the century, has been a viable alternative source of cotton after the United States. Cotton is also the means to prosperity for several thousand farmers in the region, who reap the dividends of global demand.

Turning farmers into Outgrowers
Agriculture in Nigeria accounts for more than 30% of GDP, thus it is the largest contributor to the Nigerian economy. Rapid growth in agriculture is essential for broad based economic growth. However, without the adoption of efficient and cost effective methods of agro-production, science based growth in agriculture cannot be achieved.
The company considers its own growth and success to be linked with that of each of the farmers and labour hands in the region. Hence, nearly two decades, Wacot has been nurturing and supporting the farmers in the region in numerous ways. Through our cotton Out Grower Scheme and Farmer Assistance Scheme, we provide quality inputs to loyal farmers on credit, that enable them to multiply their yield. The purpose of the schemes is to enhance the yield and quality of the cotton lint and to ensure that the cotton reaches the ginnery without contamination. Through the outgrower schemes we have been able to reach farmers in over 12000 hectares with support in terms of finance, improved seed and other natural and logistics inputs that help them get the best out of their crop.

Making progress, our business.
As of today, Nigeria is experiencing a dearth when it comes to the agricultural input market, which is fragmented and under developed. We see the private sector playing the key role in meeting this dearth – supplying agricultural inputs in a cost effective manner. With this as our mission, WACOT has developed an efficient distribution system to supply new, quality agric input products in the country. And we have made tremendous progress, through our strategy of promoting science based agriculture among millions of small farmers by supplying quality Agri inputs.
Under the programme " OUR ENDEAVOR - A HAPPY AND PROGRESSIVE FARMER" we have introduced more than 20 crop protection products - Insecticides, Herbicides, and Fungicides, which reach the farmers at the required time through a well defined and dedicated dealers network throughout the country.
We also work closely with community based farmer group's and various national and international non- govt organisations to ensure the betterment of the people we come in contact with.
